Cimarron appoints Christina Kappaz to head Latin America operations

June 1, 2009 | Bogota, Colombia – Cimarron Capital Partners has expanded its commitment to Latin America by adding Christina Kappaz as a full time member of its team, spearheading our investment efforts throughout the region from a base in Colombia.

Christina has collaborated with Cimarron in a consulting capacity since 2003, when she led a group that developed an action plan for building the venture capital industry in Mexico. In 2006, she coordinated the Cimarron-led advisory work with the Mexico Fund of Funds.

From 2003 through 2007 Christina served as the Executive Director of the Latin American Venture Capital Association, which was launched and managed by Development Capital Networks, an organization sponsored by Cimarron. Her expertise in the region has been applied to several consulting assignments related to building the industry and supporting the entrance of local institutional investors into the asset class.

After several years studying the investment landscape in Latin America and providing advise related to building the industry in the region, Cimarron decided the opportunities in the region merit expansion of our team.

Christina’s experience managing the Latin American Venture Capital Association and serving as an advisor in the region gives her unique knowledge of the Latin American industry, an extensive network of fund managers and investors, and familiarity with the regulatory environment in which funds operate in the region.

Christina’s Latin America expertise combined with the private equity expertise of the other members of our team, make Cimarron well positioned to offer a full range of services to investors interested in venture capital and private equity investments in Latin America – from conducting due diligence or designing investment strategies as an outsourced consultant to managing capital through a discreet private account or through a fund of funds structure.
